Session proposal guidance

Priority areas

Please indicate up to two national NHS priorities that your session aligns to.  We will be selecting the best sessions across each of these.

In addition, you can select one of the three broad “strategic shifts” that the government has set out as the key principles for NHS reform.

Session details

  • Working title – include a short, snappy title that conveys your session. Do be creative but it needs to give people a good sense of your session. A draft title is fine for this stage. If your session is selected, you will be able to refine it.
  • Session description - provide a brief but clear summary of what your session will be about and what people attending will hear about. Include details of any case studies and why these represent best practice.
  • Learning objectives - NHS ConfedExpo is all about high quality learning opportunities. We pride ourselves that around 90% of our attendees share their learning with colleagues and implement new projects as a result of what they have heard.  So, it’s important that we understand what the key take-aways are for attendees and what they will learn or gain from your session.
  • Target audience – It’s important that we have a diverse programme that meet the needs of different professions and sectors, so we need to understand who your session is targeted at. Let us know if your session is relevant to specific professions or organisations, or if it has wider relevance.
  • Style of delivery – we have different rooms and spaces at NHS ConfedExpo and a maximum number of each type of session that we can accommodate. Please:
    • Let us know what style of delivery you think would work best for your suggested session (Informative, interactive or networking)
    • Give us more detail in free text about how your suggested session would be run and delivered.

Informative sessions – should have no more than four speakers, including the session chair. (Sessions are 40 or 45 minutes in length).

Interactive sessions – should focus on engaging, so please keep speakers to a minimum. We do not want to see panels of speakers. At this stage please only name those who will have a key role in speaking or hosting the session. You can provide names of facilitators later, if your session is taken forward. (Sessions are 60 minutes in length).

Networking sessions - the emphasis should be on networking and bringing together communities of interest. We do not expect to see a long list of speakers. We want to hear about how your session will connect people. (Sessions are 60 minutes in length).

We have a range of spaces available for informative sessions from 80 to 160 attendees. The interactive and networking sessions range from around 60 to 150+ attendees depending on the room size. Please bear this in mind when you consider and describe how your session will run.

Speakers

Speakers are key to the success of every session. Your proposed speakers should be:

  • Diverse and inclusive – providing different perspectives, backgrounds and experiences
  • Highly knowledgeable, subject matter experts
  • Respected for their breadth of experience
  • Compelling and able to connect with the audience and present their ideas clearly

Please check that your proposed speakers are available to speak at NHS ConfedExpo 2025 on 11 and 12 June at Manchester Central and are happy for their names to be submitted in your proposal.

Please ensure speakers are aware that sessions need to go through an assessment process and that successful submissions will be confirmed in February 2025.
