Steve Russell is Chief Delivery Officer and the National Director for Vaccination and Screening at NHS England. Before joining NHS England in February 2022 to lead the NHS COVID-19 vaccination and flu programmes, he was Chief Executive of Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust and had a decade’s worth of board level experience including as NHS Improvement’s Regional Director for London.
He started in the NHS as a graduate trainee in Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust where he worked for fourteen years, before moving to London where he was Chief Operating Officer at South London Healthcare and Deputy Chief Executive at Barking Havering and Redbridge NHS Trust.
