Dean is a highly experienced NHS leader. He is the former Executive Director of HR and OD at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Chief Executive of NHS Employers and Director of Workforce and Education at NHS North West. He has been Chair of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and President of the Health People Management Association (HPMA). Dean works as a consultant in HR and OD and is currently a Non-Executive Director at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and at Humber NHS Foundation Trust. He is Chair of NHS Professionals Strategic Advisory Board and is also a co-author of An Introduction to Human Resource Management published by Oxford University Press.
