Dr Shehla Imtiaz-Umer is a GP Partner in Derby and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Director for General Practice in Derbyshire. She is recognised for her contributions in addressing workplace discrimination and its impact on colleagues and patients. She has worked to support the implementation of effective measures for reducing discrimination and has an interest in understanding how workforce inequities are reflected in health inequalities.

As co-editor for the Wiley publication "ABC of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Healthcare," Dr Imtiaz-Umer has played an important role in elevating the understanding and implementation of EDI principles within the healthcare sector to address health inequalities. This contribution has enriched the knowledge base and directly influenced positive changes in the field.

With her extensive experience in EDI in Derbyshire, Dr Imtiaz-Umer has helped shape policies and advocated for positive cultural change in General Practice.

Her dedication has earned her recognition as a leader and advocate for a fair and inclusive healthcare system. She has gained recognition for her efforts with multiple awards, and in 2022, she won an NHS England award for her commitment and contributions to EDI.
