GP & Chair of Berkshire West Primary Care Alliance, Berkshire West Primary Care Alliance

Amit is a GP partner and Clinical Director, leading on strategy and partnerships, based in a large four site practice group/Primary Care Network in the Wokingham borough. The organisation has a Christian ethos and values of integrity, compassion, and excellence.
Amit is enthusiastic about enabling patients and supporting colleagues to achieve their potential. He has an interest in organisational development with a particular focus on developing leaders. Part of his role has been to help develop staff, both clinical and non-clinical staff, and numerous new services including physician associate development, IT administration systems, digital triage and health and wellbeing services. He was previously a GP trainer and Oxford University primary care educational coordinator for 4th year medical students. He currently trains physician associates and several other professional groups within general practice and beyond.
Developing strategic relationships between general practice and a wide variety of stakeholders, to improve patient care, is a key facet of his work often using innovative methods. To this end, he has had several years’ experience as a medical director of a GP Alliance. He is currently the chair of Berkshire West Primary Care Alliance, which is collective of 14 primary care networks (32 practices) working together. The Alliance is developing services at scale to help support general practice as well as developing innovative new methods of delivery. He also chairs the Berkshire West element BOB (Bucks, Oxford, BW) GP leadership group. He has strong relationships with local and regional system leaders which enables the work of the GP leadership group as a key system expert driving forward new models of care. He has done some ad-hoc consultancy work for Tricordant healthcare consultancy. He has worked on some national workstreams and currently is working on a NHSE clinical advisory group looking at the care model.
His main clinical interests include mental health and paediatrics. He serves actively in a local church as an elder and enjoys sport, history, music and politics.
